Waste Management Training at Husnul Khotimah Islamic Boarding School: Creating Sustainable Business and a Cleaner West Java

Bandung, February 20, 2025 – Lecturers from the S1 Communication Science Program at Telkom University Success conducted a waste management training session at Husnul Khotimah Islamic Boarding School, Kuningan Regency. This activity is part of the Community Service Program (PKM), aimed at creating sustainable businesses while supporting the Jabar Bersih (Clean West Java) initiative.

The two-day event, held from January 31 to February 1, 2025, involved 25 participants from the local community and 10 students from the boarding school. The training covered waste management, utilizing waste as a business opportunity, as well as challenges and prospects in the recycling industry.

According to the Program Coordinator, Dr. Rita Destiwati, this initiative is not just about maintaining environmental cleanliness but also about helping people recognize the economic potential of waste management. “Through this training, we hope that the community and students can transform waste from a problem into a profitable business opportunity,” she stated.

As part of this program, the PKM team also handed over a plaque and trash bins to the boarding school as a symbol of commitment to environmental sustainability. This initiative is expected to serve as a model for other communities in managing waste sustainably and fostering a cleaner and healthier environment in West Java.
