PUBLIC LECTURE: OPTIMIZING COMMUNICATION STRATEGIES FOR SDG's IN WEST JAVA

Bandung, 13 November 2024 – The School of Communication and Social Sciences at Telkom University hosted a guest lecture titled “Optimizing Communication Strategies to Achieve SDG’s in West Java.” The lecture was attended by approximately 170 undergraduate Communication Science students and took place in a hybrid format to accommodate both in-person and remote participants. The main speaker for the event was Prof. Dr. Zuzy Anna, S.Si., M.Si., Director of the SDG’s Center at Universitas Padjadjaran.

In her presentation, Prof. Zuzy Anna discussed essential strategies for effective communication in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) implementation. She highlighted the importance of using communication tools to raise awareness and encourage community involvement in sustainable practices, which are critical to achieving the SDGs in local communities like those in West Java.

“Implementing the SDGs in West Java requires clear communication strategies that resonate with various stakeholders, including the general public, policymakers, and community leaders,” Prof. Zuzy explained. She shared insights on best practices and the role of communication professionals in driving change, especially in the areas of education, public awareness, and advocacy.

Through this lecture, Telkom University aims to equip students with a deeper understanding of the communication tactics and approaches necessary for advancing the SDGs in Indonesia. The faculty hopes this knowledge will inspire students to contribute actively to public awareness efforts, aligning with the university’s commitment to fostering impactful, socially responsible graduates.

This guest lecture marks one of many initiatives by Telkom University’s School of Communication and Social Sciences to align academic programs with real-world challenges and foster a generation that is both professionally skilled and socially conscious.
