TEL-U HOLDS COMMUNITY SERVICE ABOUT DIGITAL LITERACY KBGO

The internal collaboration team of lecturers from the Bachelor of Communication Studies Study Program (School of Communication and Business) with the Master of Design Study Program and Visual Communication Design Study Program (School of Creative Industries) Telkom University collaborated with the Indonesian Teacher School (SGI) to hold Community Service activities by promoting agenda ‘Content Creation of Online Gender-Based Violence Education Campaign (KBGO)’.

PKM activities consist of 3 (three) internal teams, each chaired by Mrs. Alila Pramiyanti, Ph.D., Mrs. Dr. Iis Kurnia N. and Mrs. Dr. Ira Wirasari were carried out to initiate online campaign activities as a form of sexual education and digital literacy to prevent the treatment of KGBO which is often experienced by the younger generation who are still in school. This PKM activity itself collaborates with SGI because, as a teacher leadership cadre institution, SGI has a commitment to empowering and improving the quality of teachers. Thus, it is hoped that the SGI cadre teachers will be able to convey information about Anti-KGBO through learning materials at school.

In an effort to understand the situation in designing this anti-KGBO campaign, the PKM team first distributed questionnaires to the target community and found several KGBO issues that were most often experienced by students, some of which were sexting, cyberstalking, and malicious distribution. In line with these results, this PKM activity also held a focus group discussion (FGD) with SGI represented by Mr. Ervan Jaya and the team, and finally chose the issue of sexting as the main message to be conveyed in the campaign. Sexting itself is something that is commonly done by today’s youth and is a form of KGBO which can be interpreted as the activity of sending, receiving, or spreading and showing messages or pictures of a sexual nature through internet platforms or cell phones.

In designing the content for this anti-KGBO campaign, collaborative teams from the two study programs worked together to design messages and create animated characters that would later be used as the main characters of this campaign. This animated character himself is associated with the relationship between parents (father and mother) and children (both male and female), on the grounds that adolescent life is very vulnerable to becoming victims of KGBO and still requires intervention from the family (especially parents) to guide and direct children in social life. With a message like this, it is hoped that the anti-KGBO campaign will become a space for interaction between teachers, parents, and students, to ensure that students can establish healthy social interactions in virtual spaces.

This PKM activity itself supports the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) regarding Gender Equality, and in the future, it is hoped that it will become an ongoing activity to disseminate anti-KGBO campaign content in order to create a well-literate society.
