Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem: BRIN and Universities Consolidate Research Directions for 2026

JAKARTA, April 14, 2026 – In an effort to accelerate national development driven by data and innovation, the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) hosted the 2026 Research Direction and Collaboration Consolidation Forum. Held at the Widya Graha Building Ballroom in South Jakarta, the event marked a significant milestone in tightening the synergy between the government and academia.

Initiated by BRIN’s Research Center for Social Welfare, Villages, and Connectivity, the forum was attended by representatives from various ministries, government agencies, and scholars from leading universities. The gathering aimed to ensure that all research outputs possess both academic relevance and high practical value for the public.

Cross-Sector Synergy and Big Data Utilization

Suci Wulandari, Head of the Research Center for Social Welfare, Villages, and Connectivity, emphasized that integrating research with national development needs is a necessity. she highlighted that universities play a pivotal role in generating innovative solutions.

A crucial point of discussion was the presentation by the Director General of Social Protection and Security from the Ministry of Social Affairs regarding the utilization of “DTSEN” Big Data. This data is projected to be a primary instrument in:

  • Accurately identifying poverty patterns.
  • Evaluating the effectiveness of national social security programs.
  • Supporting sustainable community empowerment strategies.

Building a Research-Based Future

Beyond the presentations, the forum facilitated interactive discussions on formulating research group work plans and innovation management. Through this collaborative space, academics were encouraged to contribute actively to a more inclusive national research ecosystem.
